Get Zone Alarm Pro 4.5 direct from Anonymizer!

Total Privacy Suite This software combines Anonymous Surfing, Anti-Spyware and digital shredding capability right into the Firefox Browser.

There are several things that you can do to protect your personal privacy while you surf the web.

1) Set your browser to warn you before accepting 'cookies'.

2) Create an anonymous email account with a company such as Hotmail, Net Address,  or StrangePages Free Email  to use when giving out information online. Many companies ask for an email address to register for a contest or to customize a browsing experience. By establishing an email account other than with your ISP, you make it more difficult to track your identity.

3) Use caution giving out your personal information such as address, full name, phone numbers, etc, to online "friends." While this may seem like a no-brainer, too many people  neglect to take this simple precaution.

4) Invest in software that removes cookies and monitors the data that you may be sending out without your knowledge. Zone Alarm is one example of this type of software (I use the Pro version) that tracks all data sent to and from your browser, preventing your sensitive data from being targeted or your browsing habits from being tracked.

5) Don't engage in any activity at work, whether it be browsing or sending email, that you would not want to share with your employer. Most companies monitor employee email and other internet usage and may keep records. Remember, if you don't want to make public that email you are sending to your coworker or anyone else, don't send it! If you don't want your boss to know what sites you visit on company time, then don't go there.

6) Don't reply to spammers, even to request to be taken off the mailing list. It almost always only serves to confirm that they have spammed a valid email address, and may only increase the amount of unsolicited email you receive when they sell your address to other companies.
